Christy: So great. Her voice is perfect and she looks just right for the role. Her acting and singing were spot on. She was very sweet at stagedoor. I wish I had spent more time talking to her. Actually I wish I had talked to everyone more.
Jake: Just like Christy he was great. Both vocally and acting. He looks too old to be Melchior though. But not to the point that it was distracting. I thought it looked like he stands with a kind of wide stance. It could just be me.
Krista: Probably my favorite Martha. Her voice was so good, and her acting was great. I bet she'll be great going on for Wendla because there's something about her that's really sweet. She has kind of wide, emotional eyes which work really well especially when telling her secret, and in Dark I Know Well, and in Left Behind.
Blake: AMAZING. Everythng he did was perfect. I think his acting was awesome. Singing was great. Honestly nothing else to say. Except he's shorter than I thought he'd be. Probably a little shorter than me.
Steffi: Great. Her singing was great. I thought she was excellent when talking to Moritz.
Andy: Liked him alot. He was pretty flawless. Also shorter than I expected.
Gabby: Just right for the role. Her voice was good and her acting was very cute.
Ben: Great. His voice is so wonderful.
Claire: So good. I'm glad I saw her. She looked just like Caitlin. Her delivery was great every time. I loved how she kept turning back and forth to look at Gabby then Christy while they were talking before My Junk.
Matt: Awesome in My Junk. Everything else was great as well. Especially watching him jump around in Bitch of Living.
Anthony: Amazing vocally and acting. I also watched him a lot during other scenes. SO NICE at stagedoor.
Angela: Great, as everything. Her Wendla's mom was good without being over the top. Her Melchior's mom was so kind and sincere. She was amusing as the teacher as well.
Henry: Good. His "My son, failed." line was really interesting rather than like "My son. Failed." like I'd heard it in the past was more like "My son? Failed!" and reminded me of Red from That 70's Show. (Who he looks SLIGHTLY like)
Ensembles: Before the show started I saw people going on stage and then to the seats. Two people seemed to be with the Usher slightly longer. And my cousin asks "Do they get to choose their seats?" I answered "No! That's Lucas and Julie." then I found Perry and Krystina on the other side of the stage. All of that made me so much more excited for the show itself
Overrall: Perfect! I was breathless. Seeing it live is better than any video, audio, or story. I was in the front row of the balcony so I mostly had a great view. I kept watching Jared direct or the ensembles and other off-stage people. I cried at the end because all year has basically been builing to it, and then it was over. Now all I have is my memories of it. Everybody was super strong. No real complaints. Oddly, during Whispering I couldn't help thinking of my Listerine lyrics. I knew that Jimmie Johnson and Mark Martin going 1-2 at the Nascar race was a good sign for the rest of the day!
Mama Who Bore Me: As soon as she opened her mouth I thought she was perfect. She sounded perfect, and looked beautiful. Everything seemed right.
Stork: Perfect. Christy was adorable, Angela was so funny, but believable. It made me think of how a high schooler might explain to a really young kid.
Mama Who Bore Me Reprise: Fierce. man. The girls were awesome. I love how the lights came on them standing on the side. The guys were possibly more fun to watch, especially Anthony who was rocking out in his chair.
Latin: Good. When Jake was defending Moritz. Blake made this really funny sound like "huh/uh/wow/ugh" It made me laugh.
ATK: Great. Jake sounded good.
Dreams: Funny again. Especially Anthony. When Jake tells Blake about Otto's dreams about his mother Anthony's eyes got really wide and he shook his head. Matt's reaction was funny too.
BOL: Man. That was incredible. I wanted to dance along. Everyone was fierce, rocking it. I loved how they don't just jump around the stage but also the ladder and the fence.
Radical: Good. Claire (who looked a lot like Caitlin with the shorter hair) was really good. When Gabby and Christy are talking about Mama and the wedding, Claire was spinning back and forth.
My Junk: I feel like the girls' part isn't very memorable, especially with the boys on their tail. Both guys were really funny. Especially funny when Andy says Darling. Because he lowers his voice quite a bit and dragged it out. At the end of the song I liked watching Matt and Angela.
Scene: Funny. I like how Jake outright laughed at some things Blake said. I thought it made him seem like a real friend. Blake was hilarious. Jake's "With any luck, he'll ignore that prayer." I'm not sure exactly how to describe it, but he did well. Angela's mom was really good. King, like a mother should be. Her and Blake's interaction was really funny.
Touch Me: Started great. Ended wow. I liked watching the ensembles. The lights were really cool too.
Scene: When Jake was talking about the acts of charity it sounded a bit like a speech he was delivering. It worked like that. Because when Wendla agrees with him his response is like someone who's delivered the speech several times and never got someone to agree.
Word of Your Body: Fine. Not terribly memorable. I think I was looking at the lights during it.
Scene: Blake's dance was awesome. Jake really seemed like a friend. I loved how Blake cleared his throat a little when he didn't hug Andy. When Claire says "You may not cut it short, you may not wear it down." she turns between Gabby and Christy, and uses their hair. (That sounds weird. I mean that she pretended to cut Gabby's and picked up a little bit of Christy's.) I don't know if that's something they usually do, but I liked it. Another thing I noticed was after Claire says "Last one there has to hold hands with Hanschen." there wasn't as much giggling, or shuddering as I thought there would be. Krista was great telling her secret. Again, I don't know if its usually done. But at one point she tries to grab Gabby's hand and pull her along.
DIKW: Krista was perfect. Especially for beind relatively new. Her voice is great. My mom said she thought that Krista was one of the best and couldn't believe she was an understudy. Steffi was good. The duet was awesome and the harmonies were scary good as well.
Beating: Jake seemed far more interested in writing about what happened to Moritz than talk to Christy. I felt like he added more "And That?"s to the beating. The laughing was bugging me.
Failed: Moritz kneeled instead of getting hit. It worked okay. It seemed to show how he was distraught and helpless emotionally rather than showing it physically.
ATTWN: It's fun to watch Jared conduct. Especially in this one. Angela was so sympathetic. Blake was rocking, And the other boys were fierce as well.
MBN: Great. Jake was good. The boys were cool to watch, especially because the lights made them look red.
Hayloft/I Believe: Good. They were both believable (Although Jake's a lot taller and older looking.) The swing seemed, well, swingier than I expected.
TGO: Good. pretty sounding. I wasn't really watching Christy and Jake. I liked the choreography that all the others do off to the side.
DDS: Powerful. And fierce. Blake was great.
BW: Beautiful. Blake looked so sad while Steffi was sinding.
So Dark: So sad. I think its a little weird that he basically cleans up and puts things away before he dies.
Left Behind: So sad. I leaned forward to see the people on the stepd. Anthony was really the one who made me cry. He basically threw the flower down, looking so upset. Also when I leaned forward I also noticed that the flowers were just sitting on this black thing that was only a little lower then the rest of the stage.
TF: Once again I was watching the people on the steps a lot of the time. It was awesome, so great. I was leaning so far forward I probably looked like I was going to jump up. I kind of wanted to. I loved Jake's "Yes." The lights were amazing and the ensembles were fun to watch as well.
WOYBR: Great. Rather than sitting down together Ben was already sitting and Andy stood behind him watching for awhile (quite creepily) and then sat with him. Andy was quite creepy. He said skim off the cream amusingly. Like "skim....off....the cream." Ben was really sweet. Both were amazing.
Doctors: It's cool to see the pass-off of the letter. Steffi climbs the ladder, takes the letter, and gives it to Christy. I kind of thought it would just start with Christy having the letter. I didn't really laugh at the nausea thing. But I understand why some people may have. People were also laughing when Angela was guessing who the guy was. Especially when she was like "Hanschen Rilow?" I never found it terribly funny. But for some reason I did find it a little funny this time.
Whispering: Christy was awesome. And I really liked Jakes part, except I was a little more interested in that than the rest. I also liked the parents. At the end Henry was holding Angela, showing he really felt bad. It just seemed so real and sincere.
Reformatory: The fighting is quite different there was no pit. Everyone was good. Without the glasses Matt and Ben were confusable to me. The second part of the fight (When Melchior escapes) looked a little too fake. Jake's swings were so big, yet so obviously not hitting anything.
Graveyard: I felt for Jake, he really wanted Wendla to be there. It made me cry.
TYK: Beautiful. Can't really say more than that.
SOPS: I already said this but I cried, knowing that this was the end of the line for me.
Stagedooring:
So I have to go through this as well as I remember, even though the pictures have been deleted from my phone (due to crappy crappiness) and they aren't in chronological order on my facebook...
Gabby was the first we talked to. I handed her my pen uncapped. First she tried to click it, then she tried to uncap the wrong side, then we figured out how it was supposed to work. (I really should have figured that out ahead of time) I had sort of just opened the playbill to a random white page, so she was a little confused where to sign. I was like "Anywhere's fine. It's white so I'll at least be able to read it." then I got a picture, and gave her the collage. The picture turned out like crap, but that wasn't her or my fault (you know who you are!)
I want to say the next was Krystina, but I'm not sure. Actually no, I think it was Perry.
He was telling the people before us about the cabaret, then said to us "you heard that schpiel I just gave." I heard the gist of it, and also knew from the blog post. I let him inform us a little and then I gave him my playbill and said "You were great. Really fun to watch." My advice to everyone out there: Don't say that. You'll go home and realize you sound like a stalker. And then I did the whole picture, collage thing and it was fine.
So THEN I think it was Krystina. For her my friend couldn't find the collage. So I had to look for it. It took FOREVER to find. I had to apologize to her A MILLION times. I don't really remember why but I told her she made me cry a couple times during the show, which was true.
Okay. Here's where I really forget the sequence of things.
Anthony was the first person to really look at the collage, probably because I used some really funny pictures from his facebook. So he was probably the first to see my signature because he goes "You're ATUgirl? I subscribe to your videos" to which I try to say as calmly as possible "I know! I was really...flattered." he turns to Christy and goes "Have you seen them?" and she was like "Yeah, I think I subscribe too" I don't know if she has, but she doesn't have an obvious screenname like Anthony does, she then says "well I know I've seen them." of course by this point I go "really? wow"
Unfortunately I was so stupid to break sequence for Anthony (it was playbill, picture, collage) and he was so super nice to help me get the collages to the people I missed, that I didn't get a picture with him :(
But I got a picture with Christy, (I've already said this, but she's like LIANA height)
So I don't remember Claire or Julie very well because I don't have pictures (or apparently a good memory) but they were both nice.
When Krista came over to me I basically jumped on her and go "I'm so glad I got to see you as something." (which almost sounds offensive now, i don't know why) she was like "Thank you." and then I did the signature, picture, collage. But of course, nothing's ever easy because I don't think either of us were ready for the picture because it looks a little...candid (and like I'm yawning)
I know at one point a lot of them are talking to each other, comparing the collages. Because I could hear "oh she got my headshot..." and my mom later confirmed that. At one point I heard "Oh she's ATUgirl?" To which I was like "You know who I am?!?!?!" (current facebook status) and someone turned around (I think it was Matt, because I think it was one of the taller ones) anyway so I was flipping out.
Lucas and Steffi were both really nice even though I have a pretty hazy memory. I think if Lucas's hair was flatter, we'd be about the same height. And Steffi talked to my mom a lot. She was like the only person my mom talked to.
I kind of remember giving Blake the collage because he was like "Oh thank you." and I (the eternel self-deprecater) go "It really didn't print out so good." and he was like "No, it's nice."
And then somewhere there was a picture and an autograph.
I don't really remember much of Matt other than for the picture.
Ben was also really nice (and like Krystina, patient) because we were both ready for the picture and I ask my friend (as I did after every picture) "Did you get it?" and that time she says "um. The screen went black" Ben was really nice as I fixed it, and then got the picture properly.
Jake had a lot of people around him for a little while. When I got to him, pretty much everyone had moved on. Once again I broke sequence, giving him the collage before the picture. Which wasn't so bad, he was really nice. Also looked at the collage for awhile, smiled a few times (at what? I can't figure out) I actually looked decent in my picture with him!
The last person we had was Andy. A lot of times they say "Thank you for coming" which is nice. Try to say something like "It was my pleasure." or "It was a great show." don't do an impression of me and say "Thank you...for being amazing" IT'S WEIRD! Also thanking the person you're talking to, like A THOUSAND TIMES is weird too!
So then we were leaving, and my mom says to me "You gotta tell me what those pieces of paper you were giving to everyone were."
So we're walking down the sidewalk away from the KC. and we're going the same direction as about half of the cast. So we just walked behind them. FOR A REALLY LONG TIME. And of course, we looked like stalkers. My mom didn't want to be rude so when she started catching up to them she slowed down. Which probably made us look only weirder. Then, at a street corner they stop at a cab and get in.
I don't actually remember the sequence of this part. But I'm going to assume it was them first. One of them said good night, so of course I said good night, and bye back.
I still came off super awkward though.
