There are some songs that I absolutely loved, and then there are some that I didn’t care for. I loved Cathedrals, A Change is Gonna Come, Hey Jude, With A Little Help From My Friends, You and I Both, I Want to Hold Your Hand, Semi-Charmed Life, and Unexpectedly. Also some of the audition songs. There were others that I didn’t like as much.

I really like the opening song, even though it's supposedly a big dance number, it's still fun to listen to and it got stuck in my head.
Also the into to Second Banana is verrry similar to the intro to Little Me. It was weird.
Crazier Than You is probably my favorite song, totally got stuck in my head.
And all in all it was great.

Oh, and I love Wesley Taylor

DISCLAIMER: YOU MAY NOT LIKE WHAT I SAY, YOU MAY NOT AGREE WITH ME. JUST DON'T CALL ME OUT ON TWITTER. I AM MERELY REVIEWING AN AUDIO JUST FOR FUN. THANK YOU

So a lot of the show was same as usual, so I'm just going to talk about the new stuff for me.
I really liked Kerry as Sherrie. Her voice seemed a lot more natural than Amy and a little more so than Savannah. What bothered me about Amy was not her singing, but her regular speaking. It sounded like she was forcing young, naive, and ditzy. With Kerry it sounded like she was speaking more normally and all that Amy forced came with it.
I didn't like Don Stephenson as Hertz as much as I liked Paul Schoeffler.
Tom ...well, to be honest I'm a little nervous to say anything at all. But at the same time I just wouldn't be right to not say what I'm thinking. Okay, deep breath, I can do this.
I didn't like it. Now of course, I absolutely adored Wesley both as Franz and as a person, but that doesn't automatically slant my opinion. The first line that Franz has was a shock to my ears, as it usually is when somebody new is on for someone I'm familiar with. It's not necessarily a bad thing; when I heard Danny as Hugo instead of Matt there was a shock, when I hear someone as Melchior or Hanschen other than Matt there's a little of a shock. But neither time is it really bad. This time the shock wasn't the best thing. It didn't sound right. At all. I find Wesley's voice just generally more right for the role, it's one of those conditions that it was the perfect casting when they got someone with a voice like his for a character like that. But maybe there is an imperfection in it all; that now it's hard to hear anyone else. That almost sounds like I'm sugar coating it, but once you find that perfection doesn't everything pale in comparison? Maybe in this case it just pales much more than in others. With Tom, it sounded a little bit unnatural and certainly not German. To me it just sounds like a whiny child, or a drag queen, or both. Also rather than craving the scenes he was in, I just wasn't excited. Hit Me With Your Best Shot wasn't too bad. He holds notes oh so much longer than Wesley did. But I can't say I 100% liked it. He did seem to have a good voice but for instance he said "let's get down to iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit" when I had absolutely loved the way that Wesley said "let's get down to it, aaah." That's just personal preference maybe. Franz has a really small bit in "Here I Go Again" but I always listened for it because I really loved Wesley in it, I listened for it this time as I always do and I think I heard it, but if I did that was certainly different but, you know...personal preferences are what it's all about. I also listened for him in Don't Stop Believin', and I gotta say it again; it wasn't Wesley. And I guess really just comes down to the fact that I loved Wesley, but not in a way that would make me biased against others but I loved the acting choices that he made and everything.

So really hope that Google alerts don't get results from blogs...if they do I might need to dig myself a hole.

Edit: Rather than saying his full name, I'm just changing every instance of it to "Tom"

Day 30-12/19/09

Show: Rock of Ages
Date: 3/17/09
Cast: OBC
Type: Audio

On the paper that I originally wrote this on it is written "Wesley Taylor is Freaking Awesome" as the title. That's appropriate. Here's exactly what I wrote:
This is hard to concentrate, because the woman explaining Myers-Briggs sounds just like Kate Monster, but this show was quite good. Better quality than the last one I listened to. Fairly typical for Rock of Ages, funny and decent music. But oh, Wesley. Please return my heart. He was absolutely hilarious and wonderful.

Day 19-12/8/09

Show: The Addams Family
Date: 11/24/09
Cast: Nathan Lane (Gomez Addams), Bebe Neuwirth (Morticia Addams), Kevin Chamberlin (Uncle Fester), Jackie Hoffman (Grandma), Krysta Rodriguez (Wednesday Addams), Adam Riegler (Pugsley Addams), Zachary James (Lurch), Terrence Mann (Malcolm Beineke), Carolee Carmello (Alice Beineke), Wesley Taylor (Lucas Beineke)

So I kind of like this show. It was really really funny. Every time Bebe sang or spoke it made me think of Chicago, and I thought she was really good in it. She has a lot of really funny, relevant lines like when Alice says “Something everyone needs but very few has”
Her character asks “healthcare?”
“No, love!”
And later Pugsley asks her to do this little piggy and one of them was “this little piggy got swine flu”
The grandma was hilarious. Pretty much that’s all I think of. She uses this wonderful hilarious voice and has some truly great lines.
Pugsley was really good, definitely reminded me of Max. I can imagine he would be totally amazing in that role, opposite Lita :D (I think I’m now mentally casting my family for this show) Especially in What If?
Krysta was just so great. It’s so wonderful to see her in fairly large role when I first knew her as an ensemble in Spring Awakening. Her voice is great and her acting is really good. She sounded reallllly great in Pulled. I liked that song. A lot of people are saying she deserves a Tony nomination, I completely agree. It would be so cool to see her and Jenn, both former ensemble-rs, get Tony noms in consecutive years.
Wesley was really good, I didn’t realize I liked his voice so much. Even not-German. It’s not much of a role, but it was good, and in Crazier Than You he and Krysta sounded quite nice.
Nathan Lane was really good, very very funny.
Alice and whatever her husband’s name was were alright.
I wouldn’t say the music is FANTASTIC. But it does a decent job at moving the plot, and a cast recording would be cool
Um. Not sure what else to say again.

Day 11-11/30/09

Show: Rock of Ages
Date: 8/8/09
Type: Audio
Cast: Constantine Maroulis (Drew), Savannah Wise (Sherrie), Adam Dannheisser (Dennis), Mitchell Jarvis (Lonny), Michelle Mais (Justice), Lauren Molina (Regina), Paul Schoeffler (Hertz), James Carpinello (Stacey Jaxx), Wesley Taylor (Franz), Ericka Hunter (Waitress Number One), Katherine Tokarz (Ensemble), Andre Ward (Ensemble), Jeremy Woodard (Ensemble), Angel Reed (Ensemble)

I'm sort of torn on this show. The plot's average and predictable, but the music is worked in really well and it's pretty funny. I like Savannah's voice more than Amy's it sounds a little younger and naive. I really don't like Constantine's acting or singing, ick. Mitch Jarvis is so funny..."stars are undeniable, like herpes"
I don't know if I can make words for how great Lauren and Wesley are. Lauren sounds awesome and is totally fierce. and Wesley is just great, so cute and his voice is awesome. Even when I don't understand what he's saying his voice is so cute!
I had seen a video, but I stopped in the middle of Hit Me With Your Best Shot. Everything after that point was new to me, and some of it I didn't quite get. I thought the "I'm not gay, I'm german" or whatever was pretty funny, especially seeing as I had just seen Legally Blonde with "is he gay or European?" but a lot of the show after Every Rose Has Its Thorn sort of had me confused. And there was screaming during Wesley's part of Don't Stop Believin. Major bummer.

See you tomorrow with Addams Family or American Idiot!
