“Hi, Lexi.” He sounded depressed, but not quite angry.
“I’m sorry.” I said as honestly sincere as I could.
“I don’t understand. Why would you do that? I thought you were getting to be friends.”
That made me feel unbelievably guilty, “”I said it a long time ago. Before I knew her…”
His eyes still looked angry “Why would you say it at all? She does have a heart. I guess you just never struck me as that mean”
“It was because of you!” I shouted.
He looked surprised “What?”
“I really liked you. I was just jealously venting when I said all that. It was a mistake.” I hadn’t meant to say all that, but I did.
“Oh. Lex…”
“I really do feel bad.”
He nodded “Alright.”
“Did Sarah leave?”
He nodded solemnly “Yeah.”
“You should try to get her to stay.” I encouraged.
“I know.” He said quietly. “But maybe she’ll change her mind or something.”
I didn’t know what else to do, so I hugged him and left.
