Excerpt

The powerdrill, the sunglasses, the heat, and his shirtless chest were a painful combination. I couldn’t stay focused, and not for a lack of trying. The foreman told me I could get water and a break. Instead, I decided to satisfy my craving.
I walked up behind Mitch and put my arms around him. He felt so good.
“I missed you.” He told me softly.
I smiled “want to go somewhere private?”
We were about to sneak off when we heard a crash. I looked up and saw a pink hard hat rolling on the ground.
“Oh god. I think that’s Sarah!”
We ran up to where the action was. It looked pretty bad, but I really wanted Sarah to be okay. By the time we were there, she was lying on a stretcher.
“Hi guys!” she waved feebly. “I got his by a piece of wood!”
I smiled and nodded “I know. Have fun in the ER.”
She gave me a thumbs up. “Of course I will” and with that she was wheeled off.
I turned to Mitch, before I spoke he said “I think we should go. Be there for her.”
I was so relieved that he suggested it, because if I had it might have seemed weird.
