I walked towards the door at Starbucks, looking through the window on my way. I saw the girl from yesterday beginning to shut her laptop as I walked in to quickly order my drink. Then I walked over to her and tried to start a conversation.
“You make that look really good.”
To my surprise she wasn’t nearly as repulsed by me as I expected.
“Well, yeah it is really good!”
“I just wanted to see if you’re okay.” I said idiotically.
“Yeah, I’m fine, my sister was dying to get me out of the sweater!” she responded brightly.
Now would be as good a time as any to introduce myself “I’m George Rosengard by the way.”
She held out her hand “Bella Swan” I thought about her name for a second, she didn't really seem like a Bella. I don't know, that name reminds me of the ballet Marla dragged me to...Swan Lake. I mean she's pretty like a ballerina, but she seems better. She seems more interesting, fun, and strong then a boring, bland, helpless Bella.
But she really didn't need to know everything I was thinking about her name.
“Well, nice to meet you!”
She started talking to me so sweetly, so funny. She was really good at cracking jokes.
After a little while she suddenly freaked out
“Oh my god! I have to go or I’ll be late!”
But I had to ask the question that had been on my mind
“Wait!”
She turned toward me
“Is Bella Swan really your name?”
She smiled evilly “Maybe!” leaving me to watch her beautiful hair flip away from me. I stared at the door after the spitfire had already pranced down the sidewalk away from where I could see her.
Bella, Swan, Bella...nope, still didn't seem right.
